I am leaving with Jeni to go visit Heather in Mountain Home and you are going to stay at Grandma and Grandpa Packers tomorrow and Saturday night.  When I told you where I was going, you wanted to go with me, but you felt better when I told you that Jeni and I were bringing back Clara and Quinton to stay for a few days.  But, then when you realized that I was going to see new baby Warren, you were pretty sad and want to go with me just to see him.  You love little babies!

I have been cleaning out the office and I have been putting all your birthday cards and art projects in a box.   You found the box and you LOVE going through it!  I was in the other room and you had Connor run back and forth between us asking me who each card was for and who sent it.  You are actually getting really good at bossing Connor around.  You have realized that most of the time he is pretty willing to do what ever you ask.  It's pretty funny watching you boss him around, though!

You got to spend some time this morning with Hampton while Connor was at the dentist getting 3 fillings!  You are actually really excited to go the dentist and keep asking me when your turn is, which is next week.  When I keep telling you that it's next week, you keep asking me "what is next week".  That is another concept that is so hard to understand!  We keep talking about days and weeks and months, but it is tricky to understand!

Friday - Wednesday, April 20 - 25, 2012

On Friday, April 20, you got a new cousin!  Heather and Barry Jenks had a new baby boy, Warren Tate Jenks.  When I showed you a picture of him, you immediately said you wanted to go to Quinton's house to see him.  You really love babies and love looking at them and love trying to make them smile and it always gives my heart a little pang knowing I can't give you another baby brother or sister.  In fact, on Monday, you drew me a picture and when you told me about it, you said it was me with a baby in my tummy and there was a doctor standing by me to help me.

When we play outside, you and Connor look for treasures and the treasures are basically anything shiny you find on the ground, which is always just garbage!  But, you love it!  I told you that you couldn't take any of it inside, so you got a box and you keep it on the porch to put all the treasures inside!

You are doing so good reading the "Dick and Jane" book!  You ask me every day if you can read it to me.  You are going to be the smartest kid ever to go to kindergarten!

You are trying to figure out the relationship to cities and states and the earth and it's a pretty hard concept to grasp.  You are always asking me what city we are in and trying to figure out how big the earth is.

We went outside today to eat a snack and sat on the grass.  You looked at me and said, "Sit on the grass?  What if there are spiders?"  I told you that you can't be scared about spiders, so you sat on my leg!  You did end up on the grass, eventually!  :)  But, you do love all other bugs and seek them out in the grass and dirt and then make homes for them in jars and boxes.

On Monday as we walked home from Heather's house, you picked some dandelions and put them in every mailbox that we passed and you kept saying that the mailman was going to be so surprised to see flowers in the mailboxes!  You thought it was so funny!

You had pre-school graduation today from your pre-school you do with your friends.  We went to the movie theater owned by the Andrews and played games, fishing game and got a book, pin the graduation hat on the smiley face, and matching numbers.  We also had popcorn, cotton candy and cupcakes with graduation hats.  You also got a cape with a big "T" on the back, which you wore all day!  It is sad that this is over, but we do hang out with and see most of the kids at church.  The only one that we don't see at church is Danielle.  But, of course, you are going to marry her, so we will keep in touch with her!

You got a dollar at pre-school today and once again, you immediately wanted to spend it!  I can not help you understand that it is better to save money!

Connor went to the dentist today, but your appointment is not for a couple of more weeks.  You are pretty excited to go to get your own light-up toothbrush!

Today, you started holding up fingers on both hands and adding them up.  I was pretty impressed!  You are too smart!

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Tonight as you were getting ready for bed, you looked at me with all seriousness and said, "When I grow up I want to see a frog". I felt shocked and a little sad that you have never seen a frog in real life before. And then you said, "Actually, I want to hold one!" My goal for this summer is to get you to hold a frog!

We left our car at Evelyn Marchant's house for her husband to fix our air conditioning and so we are borrowing Grandpa's truck. You are so excited about that and love riding in Grandpa's truck!

You registered for Kindergarten today!!! While I filled out paperwork, a teacher took you and gave you a little screening test, which you got a 16 out of 20, which actually shows that you are ready to learn and write! You have been reading from the "Dick and Jane" book every day and you can read the entire first section pretty good. You want to move to the 2nd section, but I think you still need just a little bit more practice. You did get a little upset at the screening today because you wanted to go out and play on playground, but I wouldn't let you. So, when the principal tried to talk to you, you were pretty quiet and sad.

Sunday, April 15, 2012

I have been so proud of you for the last couple of Sundays. You have sat through Sacrament meeting very reverently! Our rule is you can't color or look at books or anything until after the Sacrament has been passed and you have sat with your arms folded very patiently waiting for the Sacrament to be be over!

You really enjoyed your primary lesson today and you played a game like "Chutes and Ladders" that talked about Choosing the Right and making wrong decisions. You got to take the game home and we played it a couple of times and you are one smart boy who can make lots of right decisions!

You didn't take a nap today, so you were pretty tired and whiny, and tonight when you were going to bed, you saw a picture of you at your tumbling recital last year and started saying you wanted to go back to tumbling. About a month a half ago, it got really hard to take you to tumbling. You kept saying you didn't like going anymore, so we talked about it and you made the choice to not go any more. Well, tonight you decided you wanted to go again and you cried and cried when I told you that you made your choice and couldn't go anymore. I know it's a hard lesson to learn. I couldn't even calm you down by telling you that Kindergarten registration is tomorrow and that I wanted to sign you up for T-ball and swimming lessons. So, you went to sleep pretty sad!

We really need to work on your money skills. You got $10.00 from Aunt Jessica for your birthday and you immediately spent $5 of it on a car at Broulims. You have kept the other $5 in a bank, but today, you decided you wanted to spend it and asked me to take you to Wal-mart. All the toys you wanted at were in the $20 range. So, I tried to explain to you that if you saved your money, you would be able to buy a $20 toy, but it would take a while. But, you wanted to buy something right then and there. So, I started showing you toys that were $5 and under, you grabbed the first one and said you were ready. No matter how much I tried to get you to change your mind and help you understand the power of saving money, I couldn't get through to you! You definitely get that from your dad!

You are so good at riding your bike, that there is now way I can keep up with you and I have to keep yelling at you to stop and slow down. When we rode bikes to the park to play, you were pretty upset that I wouldn't let you follow John in riding your bike around the park. When I told you that you had to ride your bike right in front of me while I played with Connor on the jungle gym, you became very sad and told me that that you would be very careful! Sorry, buddy! Not until you are a LOT older!

Friday, April 13, 2012

We had a busy day today! First, you and Connor went to Heather Tanner's house as usual, while I worked. After lunch, we met Cooper at G's Dairy for ice-cream to celebrate his birthday. You and Connor gave him a huge frisbee! After naps, we met your friend Corbin from pre-school and his Mom at Fatcats and went bowling! You were so excited to hang out with him, but you also told me you were feeling shy. It was really nice to meet Corbin's mom and I just know that Corbin means so much to you. You didn't really talk to him or try to interact with him very much, but I know he means a lot to you!

Then for dinner, we went to the church where a family in the ward was having a "pie" party. It is really fun watching you interact with other kids. You love being around other kids and fit right in with any one around.

Thursday, April 12, 2012

You reached a very important milestone on April 3 - you rode your bike without training wheels! I was a little worried to take the training wheels off just because I remembered how long it took you to learn how to pedal, which took a good couple of weeks! But, you were off and running on the bike all by yourself within 5 minutes! I was shocked and amazed! you wobbled a little bit at first, but that stopped within 10 minutes and then you were trying to get all fancy, with turns and going fast and you are now unstoppable! I am sure that no other 5 year old has ever learned to ride so fast! I got you new "Spiderman" safety pads and you love them! And now all you want to do is ride your bike! You had your first major crash yesterday and scraped your tummy up a little bit. I told you to be proud of your first road rash and so now you show everyone you meet your owie!

Your last day of pre-school at the college was March 30th and you were pretty sad about it, When I asked you what you would miss the most about pre-school, you said "Corbin". You gave Corbin a note on the last day of school saying that you love him and will miss him. Hopefully, Corbin's mom and I can get you two together sometime!

Aunt Teresa died on March 9 very unexpectedly and we are all very sad about it. A couple of weeks after her funeral, you asked me if I remembered how Logan's mom died. I said yes and you said that we should have put a note in box that said that we love her. That was the sweetest thing! I told you that we could tell her anytime that we love her!

I am not sure what to with you and napping! You and I decided to stop your naps a a couple of months ago and you did really well not taking them. You would play the Wii or watch Netflix while Connor napped and I worked. Well, you would fall asleep in the afternoons if we ever got ion the car and once you even put yourself to bed at 4:00! And you were moody and sad and whiny all afternoon, so you started taking naps again a week ago and you are doing really well with taking them. You are always asleep within 5 min. Connor is the maniac that is hard to make take a nap these days!

You are such a good boy and I just love you so much! Lately when I have asked you to do something for me, like clean up or make your bed, or turn the TV off, you immediately jump up and say "sure!" You amaze me and I am so lucky to be your mom!

Saturday, March 24, 2012

You got to play all day with Quinton and Clara. We went swimming at the Apple with Grandma Packer and once again I tried to get you to swim without your vest and you do not like it! You can swim like a fish with that vest, but you are petrified without it! We then spent the day at Grandma's enjoying the wonderful, warm Spring weather.

Usually, you and Quinton buddy up during playtime, but you also really like hanging out with Clara and you two are great buddies!

You are so excited to go to church tomorrow and bring your little scriptures.

Friday, March 23, 2012

Happy 5th Birthday! What a great birthday! You have been so excited for this birthday and have been talking about it for a year and a half! You know that being 5 means you get to go to kindergarten and you can't wait!

I really hope you had a wonderful day! It started with the house being decorated with banners and balloons and 5 helium balloons hanging on your bed. You had blue pancakes with candles for breakfast and got to wear a new shirt with a happy birthday boy ribbon. You went to pre-school and was thrilled that they sang happy birthday to you. When I picked you up, you asked if we could go to lunch and McDonalds with Cooper, so that's what we did and Cooper gave you a kite and M&M's.

After a nap, Heather, Quinton and Clara showed up and then Jeni, John and Mackayla came over and Grandma brought Logan and we had your requested dinner of grilled cheese sandwiches and jello. I added deviled eggs and tomato soup. Jeni, John and Mackayla made a pinata, so everyone had a lot of fun hitting it!

Grandma made you a great dog cake, which was also your request. For the last week, you kept telling me that all you wanted for your birthday was "little scriptures". So, I got you a small Book of Mormom, and you were thrilled. I also got you a play ATM, that is a bank, which you have been wanting from Walgreens forever! Connor got you Diego boat playset, Grandma Packer got you 2 Lego sets, Heather got you a Lightsaber, The Bybees got you two Transformers and a set of "Hero" flashcards.

You had a lot of fun playing with Connor, Logan, Quinton, Clara and John and before you went to sleep tonight, you asked me if tomorrow was also your birthday, and when I said no, you said, "Like Christmas". I hope that means you had a great day!

You are truly my rainbow in my life! I love you so much and 5 years ago you completely changed my life! You are an amazing little boy and I am so proud of you! You bring me happiness every day! You have a kind heart and you care about others around you. I love you, my little 5 year old!
